All our Workplace First Aid courses are nationally accepted and meet all HSE and Skills for Health requirements.

 

TQUK Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) – FAW The Ofqual Level 3 replaces the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved First Aid at Work course, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience. The First Aid at Work course is run over three days and includes both theory and practical sessions.

TQUK Level 3 First Aid at Work – Requalification (RQF) This is a 2 day refresher course for current First Aiders who hold a recently expired (4 weeks) First Aid at Work certificate. Evidence of this certificate will be required on commencement.

A Requalification course can be taken up to 3 months before and within 28 days after the current certificate expires. The new certificate will be dated from the expiry date.

TQUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work – (RQF) EFAW. The Ofqual Level 2 EFAW is appropriate for nominated emergency first aiders, or anyone requiring a comprehensive one day first aid course. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience and is ideal for lower risk businesses, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations. The course is run over one day and includes both theory and practical sessions, in a relaxed atmosphere, designed to boost a candidate’s confidence. The Emergency First Aid at Work course replaced the First Aid Appointed Person course in October 2009.

The Emergency First Aid at Work Syllabus Includes:

Health and safety (first aid) regulation, RIDDOR, etc
Managing an incident
The priorities of first aid
Treatment of an unconscious casualty
Unconsciousness
Resuscitation
Shock
Bleeding
Choking
AED

Course duration: One day – 6 contact hours

Assessment of the Emergency First Aid at Work Course: Students are are continuously assessed through the course, then sit a written test in the afternoon of the course.

Upon successful completion certification is valid for three years.

Cost: £70pp (discounts available for classes of six or more).

First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ) – FAW Exact same Learner outcomes as the regulated course above. The Industry body 3 year certificate issued on completion (Protrainings) is cheaper, hence the difference in price between this and the regulated course.

Course duration: three days – 18 contact hours

Assessment of the First Aid at Work Course: Students are are continuously assessed through the course, then sit a written test on final afternoon of the course.
Upon successful completion certification is valid for three years.

Cost: £160 pp

Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ) – EFAW Exactly the same course and criteria as the regulated one above. Course duration: One day – 6 contact hours

Assessment of the First Aid at Work Course: Students are are continuously assessed through the course, then sit a written test in the afternoon of the course.
Upon successful completion certification is valid for three years.

Cost: £65 pp (discounts available for classes of six or more).

EFAW-F for Forestry level 3 (VTQ). The same content as above but more emphasis on heavy bleeding,fractures, dislocations, etc Course duration: One day – 7 contact hours

Assessment of the EFAW + F Course: Students are are continuously assessed through the course, then sit a written test in the afternoon of the course.

Upon successful completion certification is valid for three years.

TQUK Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (RQF) – BLS. This accredited qualification provides learners with skills to further their first aid training. It is recommended for the First aider in a workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator. Those gaining this qualification will know that cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation form an essential part of the chain of survival.
Learning Outcomes:

1 Understand basic life support requirements

1.2 Explain the circumstances under which resuscitation is performed
1.3 Explain why early intervention is necessary
1.4 Describe different types of cardiopulmonary arrest

2 Be able to demonstrate basic life support techniques and automated external defibrillator use in line with current national guidelines

2.1 Demonstrate cardiopulmonary resuscitation
2.2 Demonstrate compression only resuscitation
2.3 Demonstrate the use of resuscitation barrier devices
2.4 Demonstrate how to manage a choking casualty
2.5 Demonstrate the use of an automated external defibrillator
2.6 Describe the differences when using an automated external defibrillator on a child

3 Be able to demonstrate post-resuscitation procedures

3.1 Demonstrate how to place a casualty in the recovery position
3.2 Identify the risks when placing a casualty in the recovery position
3.3 Describe handover and reporting procedures

4 Be able to carry out basic user maintenance and troubleshoot problems with an automated external defibrillator

4.1 Identify when a defibrillator battery requires changing
4.2 Identify when electrode pads need replacing
4.3 Demonstrate how to troubleshoot problems if the automated external defibrillator does not function correctly

5 Understand the safe use of an automated external defibrillator

5.1 Describe the safety considerations when using AEDs

TQUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) EPFA course info

Paediatric 12 Hour Infant / Child First Aid Level 3 (VTQ) – PFA. The course provides theoretical and practical training in First Aid techniques that are specific to infants aged 0 to 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty. Candidates will become familiar with the role of the paediatric first aider and be able to assess and react appropriately to an emergency situation including being able to provide first aid for a child and an infant who is:-

unresponsive.
has an airway obstruction
is suffering from shock
is wounded and bleeding
has a fracture or dislocation
has a head, neck or back injury
has a condition effecting the eyes, ears or nose
has a chronic medical condition or sudden illness
is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and/or cold
has been poisoned
has been bitten or stung
has sustained an electric shock

This Paediatric First Aid course consists of 2 units and is to be provided over a period of 2 days with a minimum contact time of 6 hours per unit.

For the purposes of Registered Childcare provision and Early Years childcare within England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the Candidate must successfully complete the full 2 day Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid.

The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage is a document published by The Department for Children, Schools and Families and applies to Early Years childcare within England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Statutory Framework states that ‘at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate must be on the premises at all times when children are present. There must be at least one person on outings who has a current paediatric first aid certificate.’ The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid is recognised as a qualification that fulfils this need.

Assessment:

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment, there is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.

Paediatric 1 day First Aid for Nannies and Au Pairs Outline

This basic paediatric first aid course is suitable for Nannies wishing to join the Voluntary part of the Ofsted Childcare Register (OCR). It is also suitable for Au Pairs, Babysitters, Parents and anybody who cares for children and needs a basic paediatric first aid course.

This course includes both theory and practical sessions over one (6 hour) day This course is delivered at your venue and can be run at the weekend by arrangement.

The OCR required syllabus covers such topics as:
First Aid Priorities
Dealing with an Emergency
Choking – Child and Baby
Resuscitation (CPR) – Child and Baby
Anaphylaxis
Bleeding and Shock
Burns & Scalds
Eye & Ear injuries
Fractures
Childhood illnesses including Meningitis and Febrile Convulsions

Assessment:

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment, there is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.

Basic Life Support Workshop. This 3 hour course covers some of the essential subjects of first aid, in an informal way. such as : Scene safety

Martial Arts First Aid. This course is specially designed to cater for the injuries that could occur with martial arts training and classes, and the injuries that could occur The course is ideal for instructors and students. The course covers injuries, including contact injuries, cardiac arrest, as well as illnesses like allergic reaction.
